The Trager Approach in Brighton, Sussex, UK

There's a wonderful movement / bodywork / massage / approach, called the Trager Approach, in which you are very gently shaken, rocked, and rhythmically moved on a massage table by the practitioner... the point being to ease away stress and tension in muscles and joints, to experience your own body blissfully, and for stiffness and aches and pains to melt away. Got some good reviews in the Telegraph and the Daily Mail recently.

Trager is good for stiff necks and neck pain, stiff joints and joint pain, low back pain and hip pain, shoulder pain, stress management and stress related tension, fatigue and low energy.

The best proponent of this, i.e. the Trager Approach, I know of in Brighton UK is Geralyn Meyler. I go to her myself for sessions, and as a bodywork practitioner I am REALLY picky about who gets their hands on me :) (Those of you who know me, know I run the Myofascial Release Clinic UK , a teaching clinic for massage and bodywork aimed at relieving soft tissue pain conditions). Geralyn's touch, technique and her timing are sublime and she has an innate ability to sense what one's body needs at any given moment in time. She creates an environment of total safety and sensitivity - a prerequisite for any effective bodywork from massage to rolfing.

Highly recommended, you can contact Geralyn on 07876 346029 to book a session.

Knitting Cuff to Cuff - Susan Guagliumi
12 Sweaters knit side to side, some nice ideas for shaping in one or two of them - for instance gores in one, but honestly, I wouldn't wear any of them as they are knit for the book. They need more refined shaping not to look like colourful sacks. Sizes go up to something like 52"!!!

An odd kind of online literary database
Type in a favourite author and see which other authors are liked by other readers of the same author. The idea is that the closer two writers are on the map (the names dance around), the more likely someone will like both of them. Or type the names of three authors who interest you and it will give you suggestions for further reading.

Read this month:

The Self-Aware Universe - Amit Goswami PhD

A very clear exposition of quantum physics for non-physicists and an excellent development of an all-encompassing philosophy which posits consciousness as the foundation of matter, energy and everything conceivable, and our interconnectedness with all of the above. A superb read if you have been itching to know more about what quantum physics has to say about life, the universe and everything, but found physics texts too difficult to follow.
