Blue socks for me are finished and being worn at this minute. Bliss. Have discovered the OZYARN site - mohair and woollen yarns (including alpaca) from Oz at good prices. Particularly brilliant was the clearest description of Kitchener stitch (grafting for, e.g. sock toes) I have ever come across. It's in their sock pattern (free) at ozyarn.com

Am slightly stuck with Toria's intarsia daisy sweater, only because I can't be arsed to find my place on the pattern again, so will today interrupt the sock orgy and tough it out with the daisy. I'll just have a little read of Upledger's craniosacral therapy to pretend I'm doing some work, and lay the daisy within reaching distance. That way, when I stop reading to think about what I've read, daisy will appear in my hands. Cunning or what?

Have finished red Regia sox for James (son number two) and am halfway through second sock for me. Desperately need new socks for the clinic. Can't have people peering through the hole in the table down at substandard socks. James' red socks featured a 'German band heel' (oom pah pah?) which resembles a squarer than square heel. Not bad, won't repeat it. My socks feature a 'V heel', making them look quite petite. Next ones are going to be back to the round heel. Wool bought from Kangaroo in Lewes on Saturday. gorgeous stuff in there at the moment, including loads of space dyed silk / wool mixes. I resisted. But not for long, I can feel it in my knitting fingers.

I want to make soap. Anyone know how to make soap from scratch? Email me pleeeease if you have a burning tip about how to start.

A friend of mine is giving shiatsu classes; this is where one gets to see what kind of socks people wear. She was wearing hand knitted socks last night! Superbly fitting, 4ply woollen socks, with stripes around the ankle, double fabric heels and darning where it had given way nevertheless. It turns out her mother (Swiss-German, of course!!!) always asked her what she wanted for Christmas, and Rose always replied "two pairs of woollen socks, please". There is nothing as lovely as hand knitted woollen socks. Drool.

Have finished Regia socks, which are being worn right now, and am halfway up front of daisy jumper. Have also started a torrid pair of welly socks for oldest son, with middle son in waiting. (Torrid, acrylic yarn. I thought I could slip in a pair inbetween regia socks or woollen ones. Never again). Have got myself hooked on socks. See below for some amazing sites to inspire with sock knitting and to help with technical details, like the 'perfect' fit. The daisy on Toz' jumper is proving difficile but I am allowing myself artistic licence, since I designed it. I may also place a bug or two on it somewhere, if it needs balance when completed.

Have been browsing other knitblogs again. It is soooooooooo good to read about fellow knitters' progress - or otherwise. Have added several to the list down on the left hand side (pink background) just above the sock knitters' sites.
