Knitting news
Yup, I've been doing knitting. The pink lace scarf is 2/3 of the way there. I've been swatching around with odds and ends of alpaca and silk 4ply, and getting nowhere but having fun. Another scarf? No. A jacket... top... tee... cat blanket... little bag-type-accessory... mitts... socks... hat... afghan... (what the heck is an afghan, [note not 'Afghan'] if not a blanket, and where does the term come from?)... jumper/pullover/sweater...
The kittens got into the Patricia Roberts Pierrot basket and distributed 20-odd little balls of yarn over the clinic floor to play an archaic form of feline football. It goes like this. With four legs on the ground one can chase several balls at a time, and if one hits them with plenty of gusto at just the right angle they spin around each other, furniture and opponents' legs. Goal posts are irrelevant but a direct hit on one's oponent scores 20. When yarn balls get too tangled to spin any more, at about half time, Anne will come and untangle them. Anne usually provides chopped raw beef at half time, too.
Brain function news
I've always thought of myself as capable in the grey cell department, both structurally and functionally, but today I exposed a big flaw. A serious flaw. A seriously big flaw, even. This is what happened to alert me. Upon ordering some crucial supplies from a (thankfully) reputable company, I managed to type in my credit card number instead of my name. Yes. I really did. Not only that, when it got to the secure bit and I then had to type in my credit card number for real, the penny didn't drop. When I reviewed my order the penny still didn't drop. The penny only dropped when I had sent off the order and received my acknowledgement and printed out the receipt. There it was: Delivery address 1234567890123454, Bradness, Spithurst, etc, etc. I fired off an immediate email, hoping the company would have people actually there, manning the screens (vain hope), and then phoned them up. Oh, how they laughed. They giggled, they sympathized, they snortled and chortled, but they removed my credit card details from the space where my name should have been, then phoned me back to say they had sorted it all out. Economed, I thank you ***** (kisses, not swearing!)
Does this remind me of the time I bit into a bath bombe to tear the wrapping off? Yes.

Urrrgh. Been ill. Don't do ill. Urrrrrggghhh.
That's the problem with being self-employed. Ill doesn't fit in with any diary entry I have ever made. Anyway, it's Friday and I have two Pilates classes tomorrow and then I shall sleep all Saturday and all Sunday.

Not socks planner. Japanese knitting site instead.
Kurt from my online knitting group found this wonderful Japanese knitting site: ABCs of Knitting although somehow called the ABSs of Knitting in the title. The short knitting poems are delightful. The woolen pants are fab! The graph paper creator really works. Last update was sadly 18th August 2002. You're a star, Kurt!.
