22/81 blankie squares. Looking very sweet. I'm not really a powdery blue person, but it's turning out nicely. I love the domino technique. I don't actually find it slow at all, but that may be because I am working larger squares (41 sts) and it just zooms along.
The weather is glorious, Mike is going to do the first lawn cut for months today, which will take him a good 3 - 4 hours as the grass is quite long. Let's hope the ride-on (tractor thingy) mower is up to it after its winter break! I've am therefore on gallery duty, so I shall sit by the window and knit and read, watching for customers. Fortunately we do not get vast numbers as we are out in the back of beyond, and those who do come have made a real effort to get here. I love these days.
Mower is mowing and Mike and Chris have only spent occasional moments underneath it. Spring has sprung!

Only one blankie square done, but the book draft corrected and returned to editor and 25 reviews written for TeacherNet. I'm going to bed.

16 of 81 squares done on new blankie. You're going to be subjected to a daily tally until it's finished.
Another beauty from Green Fairy - you'll have to scroll down a long way to find it. No, wait, just read all the way down to this little gem. It's worth it!
"I have long stopped being shocked by the truly sickening righteous indignation these religious anti-abortion people have and the nasty, vindictive methods they'll use to achieve their aims under the banner of 'Christianity', but I'll never get over the horrifying lack of web design skills they always seem to display".

Er, I've just noticed that I started the Linus blankie with no regard at all to a lonely little bluey green sock ankle sitting in my knitting basket, craving my attention. Little sock, despair not, your time will come.
Some lovely people from the socknitters yahoogroup have given me the lowdown on the Sock Guy and Whippoorwill Hill. Both are down, Sock Guy may return, they are currently debating what best to do, and whether to carry on with retail. They can be contacted at thesockguy@yahoo.com . Whippoorwill Hill are apparently refurbishing, repairing and redecorating the site, and it should return soon.
I've found a wonderful German word for 'to frog': aufribbeln. such things please me.
Have done loads more on Linus blankie no. 2, but digicamera has run out of power and needs to be reenergised in Mike's studio. I'm going to have to find out where he keeps the charger. I've never quite worked out where he keeps stuff in his (enormous) studio :)

Have started my second Project Linus blanket, an ideal opportunity to try out Vivian Hoxbro's domino knitting. the borders will be plain pale blue, every other inner square will have a coloured square in the top right hand corner. This is it so far. Strange to knit with short needles - I used children's needles which I found in 4mm. Yup. the yarn is acrylic. Kids can be allergic to wool. I couldn't quite face the expense of soft cotton. Maybe next time.

I still can't find the Sock Guy. I'm going to have to remove the link until he reappears somewhere. The other casualty to ... well, what?... is the Whippoorwill Hill site for sock knitting. Where's *that* gone??? Has anyone seen them lately?

Daisy is sewn up... just got to retrieve the camera...

7th March 2003
I've finished Daisy!! All that is left to complete is the sewing up and the neckline which I will do in the round when everything else is done, and all ends sewn in. It's now 8:45 and I have my first client at 9:45. That leaves me 45 minutes...
8:55 shoulders sewn
9:30 got horribly sidetracked but first sleeve is sewn in at the shoulder. Onwards to a day of clients, bank, picking up oldest son from university whilst his car is in the garage, then back to sewing up.

Some of the German bloggers' blogs don't seem to be working at the moment. I wonder if the whole kaboosh is down. However, Britt at Stricktick has persevered with 2sockson2circularneedles and a pair is born. She's going back to five needles now. Five? I prefer four myself. Always spike myself with the fifth.
I've got myself sidetracked with Prospect. Such a good read. You can access articles without subscribing. The Iraq problem is well-debated this issue and last.
By the way, where's the Sock Guy gone? My link to him doesn't work any more. It's been a while since I visited him.
5th March 2003
I've been knitting if not blogging. Daisy's sleeves are now nearly at the underarm, increasing finished. Boring but quick, if I put my mind to it. The yarn is still odd, and I won't use it again, but it will be soft and light to wear. I don't like the tweed look either, but Toz loves it, so be it. I've just noticed that the wip photo is for *November 02*!!! I've been on this one for far too long.
I have done nothing on the bluey green socks, but I will get cracking when Daisy is finished.

Take one: I can't believe England have just lost to the Aussies after having been in such a winning position. Take two: I can very well believe that England have just lost to the Aussies after having been in such a winning position. In fact, it was utterly predictable from the moment we got into that winning position. I am so P'ed off, further words fail me.
On a brighter note (for me), what is it with Jo Sharp's designs? I'm contemplating having a dabble in her books, but not if she is too reminiscent of Kaffe Fassett. Not to mention Brandon Mably (for god's sake go and do something original!) Jo's shapes and colours look good and there appears to be some subtle detailing. What do you think? I know she's an aussie, but I think I can handle it. I'm an adult. Most of the time.
