Spice
Cross-over cardi/top from Jaeger no 9 in dusty pastel stripes, 30 ish colours, random.
Anjuli
Jacket from Jo Sharp's Rudgyard's Story. In a wool-cotton mix, with a tad of lycra to help hold the shape. Feels a little like a bathroom mat. Odd but nice.

30th June
Knitting Bloggers' Reading Group (link below) are reading Life of Pi - shall zip out and get my copy. More later on. My weekend massage course was brilliant - as usual. Any massage practitioners in the UK wanting excellent professional development in the Brighton area, email me for details. (I'm not on commission!) There's a Hot Stone Fusion course coming up in October / November, and a massage for pregnancy before that.
I've finished the grainy silk top and am wearing it now - with a black sleeveless top underneath. I like it. Photos soon. This means I can get back to Anjuli. I've taken to sitting in cafés in Brighton in my afternoons off and knitting. I've never had afternoons off before, so it's quite a novelty. People I see who know me ignore the knitting entirely. I finished the grainy silks top at a cricket match this evening (Toz got 2 wickets) and there was some amused banter from the village folk. Bless.
28th June
Massage was good yesterday. My shoulder is rejoicing. Here are at last some picis of recent events:
Anjuli has come on some way

and the Noro waistcoat has at last had a photo-op outing. I knitted the back bottom up and the sides side on. It turned out enormous, despite swatching. I shall probably frog and reknit, if I can think of anything I would like in this yarn. It's a bit aging hippy.
26th June
Have I said anything about the Rowan top in grainy silk and silkstones? Aah yes. It's the one I'm going to have to wear with something underneath. Second side is now started and I think I'll probably get a fair way with it tonight. Tomorrow is my day to receive a massage - it seems like weeks since the last one, and it's only 11 days. I'll survive. My muscles are chorusing in splendid harmony for some good bodywork. For those of you who are myofascially literate, my left shoulder blade has spent the last week slipping laterally down my back like a glacier down a mountain. This is good news. This weekend is another advanced massage course - yippee! And even better news: Rachel and Meg(h)an are teaching a 'Hot Stone Fusion Massage' course in October / November. When they gave us a two-minute taster at our last weekend, we thought we'd died and gone to heaven. And some were none too chuffed about having to come back again. Brighton is going to become the most blissed-out city with all these therapists learning wicked new skills.
I met with Roo, a Brighton knitter, the other day in Borders café where we knitted. Or at least I knitted. We talked masses and masses about knitting, the world, and the rest of the multiverse, too. Roo gave me a beautiful skein of raw silk in superb colours. I'm going to try making a not-to-be-felted bag with it, and I fancy the one (Dredlock) that Amy has over at www.indigirl.com I hope that one isn't felted. Otherwise I shall pair the silk with some remaining grainy silk and silkstones (double again) and experiment.
Had fun with hub winding yarn from skeins into balls. We tried it both ways - I thought it would be easier for him to wind and for me to coax the yarn off the skein, but he was sooooo slow, we swapped roles. Then he drove me nuts by not guiding the yarn from the skein, and getting the giggles when it got stuck on his thumbs. It would have been swifter to hold the skein with my feet, which is what I usually do, but we ploughed on and I have two largish balls for my holey top. He claims the batteries for the digicamera are charged and ready to go, but I don't actually know where they are, and the studio is shut up for the night. Lame excuse, I hear you say? Guilty. Don't care.
I've finished Peter Hoeg's Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow for, I think, the third time. It gets better every time, I find more in it, I enjoy the language more. Now I'm desperate to start something else, but I don't know whether to wait until the knittingbloggers reading group decides on a book to read and go with that, or whether I could slip in one before. Or just knit and wait. I can't face anything technical at the moment, I overdosed at the beginning of the week.
Ye gods! I've just been likened to a granny! I shall sue. See what it says for you:
You may not be a granny, but you've got the mentality. Hard work and artistic vision lead to your beautiful knitted results.

24th June
Ta-daaaaa! Writing is done, dusted, cleaned up, and sent off. I came across the Knitbloggers' Reading Group today - promises to be fun. Am going off to knit in the bath. Missed mine last night because of this deadline. (Probably Natural Justice!)
23rd June
Oh yes, deadline was by today. And I am still fighting the last unit. Oh god, I hate missing deadlines. And my editor is sooooo nice. I suppose they learn to be nice to authors, even when they want to curse them. Anyway, I'll only be a day late. And they can get on with the first few units. Guilt reigns. Doesn't make it any less boring, though. If you find this blog, Rich, (editor supreme), it's not you that's boring, just the stuff you're getting me to produce!
P.S. I don't need any comments about the new knitting juxtaposed with the missed deadline. I know. I know.
22th June
Oh am I fickle! The back of Anjuli is nearly finished, so, of course, I had to start something new. It's a summer top from one of the Rowan books, supposed to be in Summer Tweed, but I used two strands of Silkstones instead. Very light and lacy, so I'll be forced to wear a bra with it. Damn! Or I can wear it over a leotard for Pilates teaching. I'll get photo soon. Apparently digicam is needing recharging. Get a move on, dearest hub, or show me where you keep the rechargers!
20th June
Had a lovely end to the day yesterday, after having got thoroughly frustrated with work. Went into Brighton, wandered around a bit and meandered up into Kemptown. I don't often go up there, but was looking for somewhere for catnip. Nearly opposite the pet shop on St. James' Str. was a Tin Drum. Lovely leather sofas and divine coffee (and cognac!). So I had a decadent hour or so knitting in splendid comfort. Equilibrium might well be on its way to being restored.
Back to writing today. Although the sun is shining. Something snapped in me some years ago and I vowed to myself I would never allow myself to be bored again. Hmmm. I am usually true to myself :)
19th June
Heeeellp!! This writing (educational, not blog!) is so boring, and the deadline's 22nd June. Entertain me, someone! I may die of boredom. Never, ever let me take on writing for money again!
18th June
More writing for the Guardian online educational department. This is sooooo boring. Why do I take it on??? Money. How can I distract myself and still get it done? Suggestions welcome!
Bar-B-Q problem was solved by buying a whole new griddy set from Homebase. Genius!

15th June
Sunshine is glorious down here in Sussex. For some insane reason I bought a Nora Jones CD yesterday. Straight to the heart. The Anjuli jacket is fun, but I need to find some 3.5mm circular needles as it gets heavier. This is what it looks like so far:
Our Bar-B-Q crashed last night - literally! The sheet of metal that holds the coals had frazzled through and landed on the stones below (we had it built out of brick against the south wall of the terrace some ten years ago). Now we need another sheet of metal to replace... which means that I need to procure a / some "bench shears" for son no.1 (Chris) to ... fashion something .... I haven't a clue what bench shears are, but I'm sure some kind man in a shop will help me. Better practise the slightly helpless female look in the mirror before I sally forth. Oh yes, and look it up first, so I do actually know, at least in theory! Son no.2 (Jimbo) is out in the sunshine demonstrating cricket shots to Mike. This has been a summer ritual for the last ten years - and Dad has learnt ever such a lot! Toz finished her exams on Friday - elation abounds. Bear with me in August when I shall be the proud mum.
Of my ex-colleagues at school 5 (of 35) are leaving the profession altogether. Apparently the staffroom has been abounding with rousing choruses of 'Another one bites the dust' (if any of you have ever been in a comprehensive school staffroom during stressful times, say 40 weeks of the year, you will know how rousing rousing can be!) It's sad that all except one had to become very ill before throwing in the towel. Good people, insane.
12th June
What on earth is the date today? Have I not blogged for this long? Have been going through a small personal growth crisis. Time and energy consuming. That's when I knitted the Noro waistcoat. Frantically. " I *will* work through this, I *will*, I *will*". Well, I did, everything has changed, and nothing has changed. And that's all I'm saying. Except for "thank god for cats".
I have started the Anjuli jacket from Jo Sharp's Rudgyard's Story. It's a lovely blend of garter stitch with the odd purl row, and a little bit of 1X1 fairisle every now and again. I'm doing it in deep watery greens, lime, and various shades of lilac to plum. I may even get a photo of it in progress. Jamtart feels very much a part of it.
4th June
Jamtart has been helping me knit the Noro waistcoat.
The waistcoat is finished and I *think* I like it. Not sure yet. Started it Thursday evening and finished Sunday, 5.5mm needles, so not the most serene knitting experience.
Here is the pici of the grey/green socks. These I do like.
