31th July
Anjuli is galloping along and I'm half way up the second front. I'll do the sleeves simultaneously to keep the increases even on each side. It feels wonderfully soft and quite heavy.

Did a photo shoot for the front cover of a massage magazine on Monday evening: Brighton beach at dusk, with the pier's lights twinkling, the 'Fish'n'chips' place blazing away in the distance and the table scrunching down into the pebbles with each move. I was the body for the dry part. Then we took the table into the sea. I'll try to get some of the digital photos.

26th July
I have the low-down on Tamara's mum's cat. Her name is Smog, and she was indeed on an award-winning weight-watcher's type diet some years ago, organised by the nurse at her local vet's. Although there are plenty of before and after picis of other lounge-to-lean felines, sadly Smog could not quite summon up the resolve - so was the only one without an after pici. However, her bravery and fortitude have shone through in other ways, as she lost her eye and broke her jaw when she was hit by a car a few years ago. She has soldiered on and is still vociferously demanding food, love, massage and general worship. All power to her paw, I say. Some would say that her bravery and fortitude were amply demonstrated by her refusal to submit to weight-watchers in the first place.

Knitted a few inches on Anjuli to finish the left side. Noticed only when I had cast off that I had shaped the neck on the same side as the armhole. Frogfrogfrogfrogfrogfrogtoadfrogfrog. Damn.

25th July
Mini tank (and hence birthday card) never got to friend. Not enough hours in the day. I'm going to take my time and do something whimsical as first envisioned. Champagne was received enthusiastically.

The pici was sent to me by Tamara, and is of her mum's cat, waiting forlornly by the food bowls. As far as I can remember, said cat (name not known yet) was on a mild diet for health reasons. Not sure whether it's working or not, as no 'before' picis are available.

22nd July
Knitting project for friend has turned into a mini tank for the birthday card - with a star on the front, of course, as she's a star herself. I may garter stitch the background and sew it on. Champagne has been purchased.

20th July
I'm recovering from another superb advanced massage course over Friday and Saturday. In cricket news, Toria and her U17s crew beat Berkshire comprehensibly yesterday and are through to the area finals where they meet Kent on 2nd August. If they get through they meet the winners of the northern areas. James top scored for the firsts in his match.

It's a friend's birthday next Friday. I would like to knit something for her, something a little whimsical. She doesn't use a bag (except a large backpack sometimes) and she's not an afghan person. Socks? I've never seen her wear socks, but I've only known her since the summer. She has got delightful feet. May have to be just a bottle of champagne.

15th July
I'm scampering through Anjuli. James got 127 this afternoon. Don't know who he was playing, but he texted Toz, so he must be pleased. He's on a roll! I'm off to open a bottle of wine for this mellow eve.

13th July
Sunday morning and all the kids are out to work. Toria waitressing, Chris tractor-drivering and James playing cricket - which is a type of going-to-work for him. He's got 50s and 60s in the last three matches, so long may it last.

I contemplated socks yesterday, and I don't think I can face them in this weather. It's the first time I haven't yearned to knit socks for light relief. Anjuli is so easy, and yet varied, it performs exactly the function that socks usually do. I'm wondering if I should make another version in wool (hey, that's what the pattern demands... could be a first!)

I am also torn between another Patricia Roberts, given that I now have her books again, and one from The Seaton Collection. I fancy the Susani T-shirt or the Millefiori waistcoat. I can cope with intarsia if the pieces are reasonably small, and I'm not trying to handle rope-thick yarn. Both PR and the Seatons work mainly in four-ply / fingering, double knit at the worst, so that suits me down to the ground.

10th July
Oooh, it's so gorgeously hot here in the UK, and has been for days and days. That is Really Good for us, being not used to consistently good weather. Anjuli back is done and I've started the left front. Easy summer knitting. The yarn is Heirloom Breeze from Ozeyarn (link below left) and it's 69.6% cotton, 30% wool and 0.4% licra, cool to touch. Still feels a little like a bath mat, but I like it. I've been doing more sitting in cafés for a knitting interlude with good coffee. Bliss.

7th July
Weekend has been very busy, so no blogging. I've had another Phildar query (from Ros), who wants to know what the Phildar yarns knit as (4 ply / fingering, dble knit, etc). Does anyone know?

Toz went to Somerset for county cricket. Her figures for the match were 8 overs, 4 maidens, 3 wickets, 10 runs. Despite that they *lost* by 4 runs!

Picis of Toria's prom night:

In the quad at school, being teased mercilessly by her crew, as parents take photos!

And here with the gaggle just about to glide into their limo:

3rd July
Have had an enquiry about how to get hold of Phildar knitting needles. Does anyone know whether they are available in the UK or how to get them (from anywhere) over the 'net? Apparently they have lovely long points.

I've just had delivery of two gorgeous knitting books I found on amazon.com at two different traders: Patricia Roberts knitting books 1 and 2! One of them I owned a long time ago, and knitted a fair few things. The other I borrowed and knitted odd things until I had to give it back. Now they are sitting on my shelf again and I am plotting. Some of the designs are extraordinarily contemporary.

1st July
I've been doing some research on the 'net for Hot Stone massage and found some amazing pictures of people receiving the massage. The only thing is, do clients want to know that they are going to end up looking like Klingons?
