Luscious
I couldn't wait any longer - I had to start the Luscious Pullover in violet alpaca. This is from Sally Melville's The Knitting Experience - the Purl Stitch. I love the boxy shape and the wide neckline. Beaded hemp top is coming along too, and the hemp feels beautiful as it slips through the fingers.

It's also rather lovely to be knitting at a guage of 17sts per 4 inches rather than 36 stitches per 4 inches (for the cable sweater).

In the limelight
What happens when you have...
1) Nothing to do
2) A sharp knife
3) A large lime
4) A patient cat?
Sent to me by a catdoting friend - this is apparently doing the rounds. Cat doesn't look too miffed, does he? One of mine once ended up like that all by themselves, although in that case a split yoghurt pot was involved.

I'm so excited...
It's come together at last! Mike's cable sweater is finished and being worn by the man himself!

And here he is again, watching the news, blissfully unaware of the evil camera. I think he likes it!

This means I can get some headway going with my kingfisher blue beaded hemp top. I've almost forgotten what that one feels like.

Here it is!
Please put your hands together in a warm welcome for the newest members to the Alternative Knitting stash!

Aren't they gorgeous? It's Jaeger Aqua, 100% soft, shiny cotton, medium weight, about 3.75mm needles. 1000g in Pistachio, 500g in Seville and 500g in Grape.
I did also commit a little stash indiscretion on ebay yesterday, spying a lovely little collection of yummy yarns, for next-to-no pence, a mere 30 minutes away from close of auction. Well! How could I not have? Picis when it comes.

Works outing
Monday Mike and I had our 'day off' for January, where we both put a line through our diaries (after my Pilates class, of course!) and set off into the blue beyond. This time our excursion took us up to Town, specifically to Cork Street to see what's in the galleries at the moment. 'Twas all good fun, then, then,... we just popped into Liberty's, coz DH loves the interior and I love the knitting department, and they just *happened* to have a half price sale on. So I selected one or two items of which I shall take picis, and upload later. There are four items, actually, items being bags, each containing 500g yarn. Nothing fancy, just plain old good quality simple stuff in mouthwatering colours. Yum! Remain in suspense for a while until I get myself together camera-wise. Sufficient to say I am really pleased with my find. We celebrated with coffee and chocolate cake in a Starbucks emporium before tootling off to the RA. How weird days off turn out to be.
I also took the opportunity to hack away at the cable sweater sleeves, and one is now two thirds done, and the other started. Don't ask me why, it just worked out that way.

Dreamtime...
Back and front of the cable sweater are now both finished and the first sleeve is one third completed. I am developing a dogged attitude towards finishing it, fantacizing about the colours I can enjoy once it is done.
I had another dream about knitting the other night. Does anyone else dream regularly about knitting? It wasn't a design dream, where colours and textures materialize magically on my needles, just by thinking them, it was a real-time knitting dream, stitch by stitch. I was actually doing the knitting, move by move. Lovely... The piece I was working on was a cream / ivory coloured wool with a little angora in a textured / lacy pattern. I was totally involved in watching the needles pull the yarn through and in feeling the yarn swish around my fingers. There were lacy Vs and knobbly textured bits inbetween. Terribly traditional. I don't think I'd ever wear it. I miss it already.

Back online again!
So ein Unfug! I've been without internet connection for days and days!!! No writing work possible, as I couldn't access the stuff online, no emails, no blogging, NO FUN! But I'm back online. My server is so totally unreliable, I've switched to another. Knitting update will follow soon, just as soon as I finish both back and front of the cable sweater. I *am* sweating.

End of Year Stash Audit!
I've grasped the moment, I've done the heroic thing, I've taken a good look at my stash. I'm amazed at how inspired I am and at the amount of stuff I've kept for so long!!!
Well, here it is! The brightest and best bits of my stash. Picis are of variable quality. Fuzzy and soft, like the yarns. Mea culpa. There are other odds and ends, to be sure, but they may not even make it to cat blankets. Well, certainly not cat blankets. Only the very best for... yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you know all about cats.
Go on, you intrepid knitters out there! We had a glimpse, but only a glimpse of Emma's stash some time ago. I want to see what you've got in your's!!!
Update on Mike's cable sweater. All done in the round to underarms, then to and fro up the back.
