Toglets
Here they are so far. There's nothing quite like finishing baby togs and seeing the tiny shapes emerge. I've fallen in love with the shorts! I still haven't sewn up the cream / white long-sleeved jumper but am over half way through the baby blanket, if you disregard the edging, which usually takes me days longer than expected.

I've been away...
But I'm back again. And I've been doing some knitting, too. Two T-shirts, one jacket, one pair of shorts, and I've started the blanket for Melanie's baby. Not all are sewn up yet, and the buttons and ribbons also need to be lovingly applied - am waiting for new supplies of 'care to detail' until I start that.
Am scanning the 'net for a new computer. Yes, a completely new one. I just can't work out whether I want a desktop replacement or a laptop or both. Well, I do want both. But which one do I want more, and which one first? And is it worth getting a not-so-powerful laptop now, knowing that I will get a mega-powerful desktop in a few months ready for the launch of my new educational range, or get the desktop now and not have the laptop for when I start my masters in the summer? Oh, oh, oh.
I have to say I am rather taken with the Sony vaio desktops, the Sony PCV V1, which sang sweet siren songs to me from one of those technical emporia on the Tottenham Court Rd. Yummmmmm. Maybe I could pal that up with a very little sony centrino notebook.
And talking about launch of new educational stuff, I'm at a crossroads as to whether to continue with my MFL site (modern foreign languages) (which I do not keep up to date as it has become tedious...) on which to launch the new materials, or to create an entirely new site totally dedicated to exactly what I want to do. Well, as I type, the question is already answering itself. Obvious, innit? Watch out for coverlessons.co.uk (probably already exists!). I have said thanks, but no thanks, to the recent aothoring offer for a dinky little tome which is to be entitled 'Preparing for OFSTED'. Over my dead body. I've done enough writing for glory. The glow of your very own ISBN number X2 wears off in time. I suppose all writers go through that at least once :)

Ahem. Do I see myself in this?
 You are Shetland Wool.
You are a traditional sort who can sometimes be a little on the harsh side. Though you look delicate you are tough as nails and prone to intricacies. Despite your acerbic ways you are widely respected and even revered.

Project Melanie's Baby
I have celebrated the start of Project Melanie's Baby with a delightful little sweater in cream. The baby knitting yarns have arrived and I am seeing blankets dance before my eyes - I shall do some more little tops and jackets, socks and hats too. The fact that they only take a few hours is such a boost!

Stash update
Part of my stash indiscretion, reported on in January, has arrived: a collection of scrummy yarns which have been spirited into various boxes to enhance the selection of reds (there were some mohairs and some pure wools) and greens (bluey green mohairs again, plus wools) and fresh yellowy green wools (into the cat blanket box). I'll soon have enough in the reds and greens boxes to consider something quite special...

The front of the alpaca top is finished (see pici), and I reckon I am halfway up the back of the beaded hemp top. It looks like a wind break at the moment, as the washed guage is rather tighter than the knitted guage (I knit at 17sts per 4inches, it washes into 23 sts per 4 inches). However, it is really lovely to knit. I shall test endless swatches for finished guage before I commit any patterns to print or publication.
A truly feminist moment
and another little stash indiscretion... this time for baby yarn. A friend of mine has a friend (yes, I know it's getting complicated already) who is pregnant. And I have the very strong feeling that she may not move in those circles where hand-knitting baby togs is seen as a valid way of using one's time, which means that both she and the baby lose out. So I shall prove my point that one can be highly intelligent, educated, politically on the ball *AND* knit - even baby clothes. At one and the same time. And I want to knit some very small, snuggly items. I do like exploding preconceptions :)
