Knitters' meet?
Not actually a poll, but an attempt to start a real live Stich'n'Bitch in the Brighton / Lewes area. Please vote if you have any bright ideas about meeting up.

Dereliction of Duty
OK, ok, I haven't been blogging, but I have been Pilatesing over the weekend and Monday and had a good time. I am so tired now. All my clients have been squished into 4 days instead of 5, plus the fact that I didn't get a weekend off because I was doing the Pilates course in Reading; this all adds up to overexhaustion, with which I am well acquainted, but don't seem to be able to get off the merrygoround once I'm on it. Reading (as in books, not the town) has ground to a halt, which is a sure sign that something's wrong. My massage therapist is in New York doing a myofascial release course, so I miss her weekly ministration too. And her, of course. Hi Rachie!
I took some yarn with me and started socks in a German sock yarn in denim blue colours. Regia, I think. I lost the ball band. It's nice to be doing socks again. There is something meditative about knitting socks. Cast on 60 / 72 / 84 sts and get on with it. I worked out how to do one at a time on two circulars, which was good enough for me lying on my hotel bed. Still haven't quite finished the second sleeve on Luscious, and can't get the energy up to do it. Socks are simple.
I have had two whole votes on my poll - so thank you muchly, you two! I am going to leave the poll up for a few more days, and we could maybe work something out. There are some knitters who meet in Brighton on a Monday evening, which may also be an option.
Has anyone discovered Tesco's finest range? I am becoming increasingly enamoured of their ready meals which tells me something about my work / life balance. It's really good stuff, but highlights the fact that I could no more raise myself to cook a full meal in the evenings than run a marathon before breakfast.
Unbalanced? Moi? Someone remind me how to get on track again.

News? What news?
'Luscious' in alpaca nearly finished. Can't find buttons for apple green baby's sweater. Can't find digi camera (DS1 has it). DS2 is back from Oz, getting stuck into British life again. My work-life balance is skew, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are disappearing without trace. Can't remember how to do two socks on two circulars - the join on the second sock gapes. Jamtart has caught a rabbit and dismembered it in the kitchen. Stop reading now if you don't like gory rabbit details. She has lost one crucial tooth, so killing the squeakers is not as straightforward as it used to be, so this little bunny was still kicking as she dragged it in. DS2 almost tried to rescue it, but I am in favour of cats being cats (i.e. hunters) so we shut her in the kitchen with it (stone floor, wipable) where she... broke its neck. All yummed and scrummed down now, and I'll go and clean up the guts. Where did the fur go? Why do they eat the fur? And the claws?
Easter Monday
What's the date?
I've been off for four days, since Friday, and I haven't a clue what the date is. but it's been fun. The apple green cotton jumper for Melanie's baby is nearly finished (half a sleeve and the bands to do), then I shall have a sewing-up fest for both shorts and top. No picis as camera has gone abwol with gallery business.
I've (only just) discovered another lovely online knitting shop (Uk based, but ships world wide) called Laughing Hens. The site is beautiful and they stock Rowan, Debbie Bliss and Colinette, plus books and accessories and sock kits. The best thing is - and I couldn't believe my eyes - the wonderful owner has an entirely separate section in which she features yarn by colour: a page of all blue yarns from Rowan, Colinette, Debbie Bliss, one for all reds, etc. I had an extremely happy time browsing.
To satisfy and indeed celebrate an insane desire that came across both DH, DS1 and myself, yesterday about 4pm, for a large slice of fruitcake with our tea, I have just made two large cakes. The ingredients are quite Mrs. Beetonesque: 1lb butter, 1lb soft muscovado sugar, 1.25lbs flour (SR), 3lbs sultanas, raisins and flaked almonds mixed, 4 very large eggs, 1 pint double cream, a splash of orange juice, mix it all up in the usual way, into two large cake tins, into the oven until they are done, * let cool * (almost impossible for DS1) and munch. They will be ready by 2pm ish, and certainly not cooled by 4pm. The fight is on.

Knitters' don't meet in Brighton / Lewes?
From the resounding success of the poll over the last few days I conclude the following: a) I am the only person who voted, so either b) there are no Brighton / Lewes based knitters reading the blog or c) there are none who would like to or are able to meet or d) there are none who would like to meet with me :(
I'm going for b) as it's kinder on me.
In the meantime, I can report that it is still toasty warm in the house and Jam Tart and I are deliriously happy. I've finished the cotton shorts for Project Melanie's Baby all but a couple of rows. There will be a jumper to match and then I shall hack into some fine weight alpaca for a jumpsuit. Luscious' second sleeve is underway too. The beaded hemp top is still languishing.

Knitters' meet in Brighton / Lewes?
I hanker after real live knitting with real live people. Not that the knitters I read and chat with online are not real and live, but I fancy a non-virtual meet as well. To this end, I'm going to leave the poll up for a couple of weeks to see if there are any knitters in my area who would like to meet up - and if there are groups already established, let me know please?!?
Have bought some beautiful alpaca 4ply on ebay. Shall take picis and show tomorrow. I have a 7:15 (eeeeeeeeek) hot stones massage to do tomorrow morning, so am off to bed.

Aaaaaaaaaaah... heating
Sir Brian the Plumber has restored our heating! Jamtart and I are luxuriating in being able to stretch out properly and this is the first day I haven't worn a big thick woolly or three in the house for three and a half weeks!
I've started another gorgeous little pair of shorts for Project Melanie's Baby in light apple green cotton 4ply (fingering). I just love the shapes of these little shorts.
Luscious' first sleeve is completed and I am contemplating the second this evening.
To celebrate warmth assisted ease of movement I cleared out my wardrobes this morning - DH and DS1 were going to the tip and recycling place and announced this with about ten minutes to spare - by far the best way to do it! I have given the heave-ho to all my larger than size 16 clothes and anything I have not worn for a year or so. I can't say what a fantastic feeling that is. I have changed so much in myself in the last year or two, clearing out the wardrobe feels just right. In any case, I have been wearing the same trousers and (extremely occasionally) long denim skirt for at least a year now - stuck between having lost loads of weight but not quite enough to warrant a whole new set of togs yet. I need to be back to my pre-teaching weight for that. DH looked increasingly worried in the blur of clothes flying into bags (he gets nervous when change is afoot) and I turned on the pressure by clearing out the bathroom cabinets as well - vastly more boys' than girls' rubbish!
As a side effect of our plumbing adventures, we have lost a bathroom (well, the room is still there, but the bath and basin are now sitting on my patio) and we shall turn that bathroom into a shower room - I really fancy one of those super-turbo-mega-blaster-power-showers in the corner :)
My new motto - I have recently discovered - appears to be 'take no prisoners'. This is fun.
Have you got this far? This caught my eye: Knitters Against Bush. Courtesy of... er... Hairball . Who are you, Hairball? I know she knits and I like her toned-up (not flabby) thinking. She's been on my blog list for ages, not just for the knitting content.
And finally... my attempt to get a knitting meet up and going for Brighton / Lewes area knitters. Please 'vote' if you think you might like to take part. Maybe we can organize something together. (Yippee in advance:)
